How to Eat Vegan at Subway

If you're anything like me, you're always looking for quick and cheap ways to get your hands on a good, filling meal. For an affordable, relatively healthy and - most importantly - 100% vegan breakfast, lunch or dinner (or maybe all three!) look no further than Subway Australia! This list applies specifically to Australian Subway franchises and may not be applicable elsewhere.

When ordering at Subway, you will be asked to make your choices in this order: bread, 'meat', cheese, salad, sauce/dressing and extras. To make things easier for you, I've listed all the possible vegan choices in the same order. Read ahead!

  • Wrap
  • White loaf
  • Wheat loaf
  • Garlic loaf
  • Wholegrain loaf
  • Multigrain loaf
  • Veggie patty
  • Veggie delite
  • Anything at all... it's just salad!
  • I would recommend pickles. Lots of them.
  • Marinara/pizza sauce - goes well with the veggie patty
  • Sweet onion sauce - goes well with just veggies
  • Sweet chilli sauce - goes well with the veggie patty
  • Tomato sauce
  • BBQ sauce
  • Salt and pepper
  • None of the smoothies are vegan
  • Nor are the cookies
  • Nor are the baked bars or lattices
So there you have it. Considering Subway is a mainstream fast food restaurant, there are a surprisingly good amount of options for vegans! If you want something especially tasty, I'd recommend asking your Sandwich Artist to put some capsicum, onion and marinara sauce on the sub before toasting it. It will smell and taste exceptionally good! The toasting really adds that extra bit of interesting flavour - something that most fast food lacks.

Thanks for reading!
